Tantalum has excellent corrosion resistance and extremely high corrosion resistance. Experimental results have shown that tantalum does not react with alkaline solutions, chlorine gas, bromine water, dilute sulfuric acid, and many other reagents at room temperature, and does not react with hydrochloric acid, concentrated nitric acid, and aqua regia under both cold and hot conditions. This situation is relatively rare in metals.
The characteristics of tantalum make its application fields very broad. Tantalum can be used as a substitute for stainless steel in equipment for producing various inorganic acids, and its lifespan can be increased by tens of times compared to stainless steel. In addition, in industries such as chemical and electronics, tantalum can take on tasks previously handled by precious metals like platinum, significantly reducing the costs. This makes it a valuable metal that can be widely applied in industrial fields.
